The invention refers to a process and a device for sharpening the entire tooth profile of an endless saw band used in the wood industry. The process for sharpening endless saw band along the entire tooth profile employs the proprietary algorithm for cam generation, according to the tooth profile, coordinated with the movement of the grinding stone, in such a manner that the point of the grinding stone should trace the theoretical profile of the teeth of the band. The device for such a process consists of a casing (1) with an electric gearmotor inside, with a cam (7) mounted on its spindle, a support and guiding system for the band, a feeding gear (3), a sharpening head (2) with a grinding stone (27) and a lever (23). On cam (7) an eccentric bearing (20) is mounted. The cam (7) actuates the feeding gear (3) through bearing (20). Through lever (23), which traces the profile, and through screw spindle (28) the cam (7) actuates the sharpening head (2). The movements are coordinated in such a manner that the active ridge of the grinding stone (27) accurately traces the theoretic profile of the teething.
