PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an MPEG(moving picture expert group) 2 reproducing device which can smoothly perform slow reproduction of an MPEG 2. SOLUTION: An MPEG 2 decoder 1 contains a motion vector mv, also decodes an MPEG 2 code that has a frame/field structure into a picture and is provided with a motion vector arithmetic circuit 18 which operates each interpolative motion vector for (N-l) interpolation frame/fields that interpolate for N-fold slow reproduction from the vector mv. The decoder 1 smoothly performs slow reproduction by decoding N pictures by using the (N-1) interpolative motion vectors that are operated in the circuit 18.
