The test apparatus has a container (40) for a low frequency signal generator (42) connected to the telephone line multiple access wirer. Simulation signals are generated in the telephone line and the output connected to an amplifier (46) and loudspeaker passing the signal at an audible level. A modem (44) is connected to the output wire to test modem multiplexer access by controlling synchronization between modems.
