A projectile comprises a slot (2) which contains a guide band (3). The band consists of two part band sections (5,6). The part band near the base (7) of the projectile comprises copper or a copper alloy. The second part band section has a plastic member (8) connected to a metal support (10). The second part band has an open hollow chamber (1).
