PURPOSE: A method for detecting a traveling speed of a vehicle is provided to enhance the reliability in a process for detecting the traveling speed by counting the number of square wave pulses of a speed signal and detecting the traveling speed from the time variation of the counting process. CONSTITUTION: An ECU determines a speed calculation point by detecting a speed signal from a speed sensor and counting the number of square wave pulses(S101,S102). A time counter value is initialized if the counted value corresponds to the speed calculation point(S103). The counted value is compared to the predetermined number by counting continuously the number of square pulses(S104,S105). The time variation of the counting process is calculated if the initialization process is finished(S106). A traveling speed of a vehicle is calculated by using the calculated time variation and the predetermined algorithm(S107). |
