PURPOSE: A device for joining a liquid crystal display device and a method for driving the same are provided to align substrates by lifting elements and clamping elements when positioning of substrates by a loader part is not precise, thereby improving the precision of the substrate align. CONSTITUTION: A joining device for a liquid crystal display device includes a chamber, upper and lower stages(122), a stage moving unit, a vacuum unit, a loader part, lifting units and clamping units(600). The loader part provided to the outside of the chamber for inserting or withdrawing substrates in or from the chamber. The lifting units have first supporting parts(410a) alternatively received in first receiving parts(122d) of the lower stage to support a first substrate, lifting shafts(420) penetrating the first receiving parts and integrated with the first supporting parts to lift the first supporting parts, and driving parts(430) connected to the lifting shafts for driving the lifting shafts. The clamping units have second supporting parts(610) alternatively received in second receiving parts(122e) of the lower stage. The second supporting parts lift in the vertical direction or moves in the horizontal direction. |
