Mobile telephone has a slow oscillator (10) integrated into the integrated circuit of the microprocessor (12) necessary for activating the mobile device, and has a counter (17) that is clocked by the oscillator. Frequency change of oscillator is measured, and a register (18) stores the frequency change measurement. A fast counter (19) associated with a fast oscillator is included to facilitate synchronization of operation of both oscillators. Slow oscillator may be a reversible switch, and two oscillators are needed for clocking the microprocessor. The slow oscillator is for standby mode and fast oscillator is for active mode. An independent claim is made for method of controlling standby mode of a mobile device, such as mobile telephone. |
