PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impact absorber capable of achieving simplification of a device by controlling deformation of a cushion part by a self-sealed gas pressure without requiring supply of high pressure gas. SOLUTION: By forming a space part 4a in the cushion part 4 supported by a cushion supporting part 3, arranging a bag body 10 with an opening formed in at least one part in the space part 4a, and providing an opening and closing mechanism 20 selectively opening and closing the opening to change a collapsing characteristic of the bag body 10, the opening and closing mechanism 20 is in an opened state in a normal time to exercise an innate cushioning function by the cushion part 4, and the opening and closing mechanism 20 is in a closed state during an emergency to prevent easy collapsing and enhance restraining performance.
