PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure excellent machining precision without lowering machining efficiency. SOLUTION: By effecting relative feed in a cutting direction of a grinding wheel 20 and a work 10 while driving rotationally a wheel spindle 18 provided with a grinding wheel 20 at the tip end, the peripheral surface of the work 10 is rough-ground and thereafter, finishing grinding is performed on a condition that a deflection amount of wheel spindle 18 is further decreased than during the tough grinding. Further, cutting quality of the grinding wheel 20 is decided from the machining result of the rough grinding. The more cutting quality is lower, the more a ground amount by finishing grinding after the rough grinding is increased. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
