PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily open/close an upper opening of a ladle by a ladle lid having a burner, and to easily and reliably close the upper opening of the ladle by the ladle lid. SOLUTION: A heater of the ladle 1 comprises the ladle lid 12 having the burner disposed above the ladle 1, and an elevating/lowering means 200 to elevate/lower the ladle lid 12 with respect to the upper opening of the ladle 1. The ladle lid 12 has a size capable of closing the upper opening, and has a substantially elliptical shape that the major diameter in the ladle carrying direction is longer than the diameter of the ladle. The elevating/lowering means 200 comprises a portal frame 205 disposed across a carrying passage of the ladle 1, a power cylinder 204 installed on the portal frame 205, and a chain 202 to connect a piston rod of the cylinder 204 to the ladle lid 12. The portal frame 205 is attachably/detachably fitted to a floor surface 207. A suspension piece 206 for suspension by a crane is provided on the portal frame 205. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
