In a coating device for extruding organic solvent onto a continuously moving support (1) before magnetic tape preparation by coating the support with a paint, the extrusion die (2) has a /}50 mu m wide opening (3), the support (1) is spaced from the extrusion die (2) by 0.5-2 mm and the organic solvent is extruded from the opening (3) at /-2.5 m/sec. Also claimed is a coating process employing the above device.
