PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel and useful file enabling easy and appropriate execution of a filing operation accompanying addition and removal of paper leaves. SOLUTION: A front cover 11 and a rear cover 12 are separated from each other and one of them is formed in the shape of a bag having an opening 11a on the file base side, while an extension part 21 insertable into the opening 11a is provided on the file base side of the other. In a state of the extension part 21 being inserted into the opening 11a, the extension part 21 appearing between the front cover 11 and the rear cover 12 serves as a shelfback 13. Herein binding legs 3 are provided for the cover 12 on the side where the extension part 12 is provided, while a binding leg engaging part 4 through which the fore end sides 31 of the binding legs 3 are inserted and with which they are engaged in a bent state is provided for the cover 11 on the side formed in the shape of the bag.
