PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow economical and efficient machining of a tip capable of machining a plane portion and a rising wall portion of a workpiece by increasing the number of usable cutting edges of one tip body. SOLUTION: Polygonal face and rear faces 3, 4 of the polygonal plane tip body 2 are formed selectively as cutting faces and circular corner edges 7 are formed at the common corners of the face and rear faces 3, 4. Main cutting edges 8 are formed on side ridge portions of the face and rear faces 3, 4 ranging to one ends 7A of the corner edges 7, while the side ridge portions 12 ranging to the other ends 7B of the corner edges 7 are formed symmetrical to the main cutting edges 8 with a circular bisector M formed by the corner edges 7. The mutual corner edges 7, the main cutting edges 8 and the side ridge portions 12 ranging to the other ends 7B of the corner edges 7 are formed in symmetry between the face and rear faces 3, 4 of the tip body 2 when the tip body 2 is reversed upside down.
