<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for manufacturing thermal recording paper, which, in the manufacture of thermal recording paper formed by coating an aqueous coating liquid in a single layer or a multilayer on a support being continuously travelled, can prevent particularly curling, in each coating step, of thermal recording paper having a multilayer structure of an undercoat layer, a thermal recording layer, a protective layer and the like provided at a large coverage on its one side and can finally provide curling-free thermal recording paper. <P>SOLUTION: This process for manufacturing thermal recording paper includes coating an aqueous thermal coating liquid on the surface side of the support being continuously travelled, drying the coating, then coating or spraying an aqueous liquid onto the backside of the support remote from the coated face, and then drying the coating. The incorporation of a water penetrating agent in the aqueous liquid can increase the amount of deposited water to prevent curling. Further, when the penetrating agent is a polymeric penetrating agent, particularly ammonium polystyrenesulfonate, curling-free thermal recording paper can be finally provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
