<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new protein useful for prevention and treatment of lung and breast diseases associated with pulmonary and air way inflammation, a polynucleotide encoding the protein, a method for screening a compound inhibiting activity of the protein and a compound obtained by the screening method. <P>SOLUTION: The protein and the polynucleotide are useful as diagnostic markers for pulmonary and breast diseases associated with pulmonary and air way inflammation, nephritis or the like. Inhibitors obtained by screening with the use of the protein or the polynucleotide and a neutralizing antibody inhibiting the activity of the protein are usable, for example, as preventives and remedies for pulmonary and breast diseases associated with pulmonary and air way inflammation such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, nephritis or the like. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
