PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the yield of a product by suppressing the generation of a defective product by detecting the shift in the panel width direction of upper and lower metal skins of a heat insulating panel in a manufacturing line. SOLUTION: Panel fitting recessed parts 2 are formed to one side parts in the width direction of upper and lower metal skins 1a and 1b supplied in up and down opposed relationship and panel fitting projected parts 3 are formed to the other side parts in the width direction of both skins. The space between the upper and lower metal skins 1a and 1b is filled with a heat insulating material 4 to manufacture a long heat insulating panel intermediate product P1. A means 6 for detecting the shift in the panel width direction of the outermost side ends X and Y of the upper and lower metal skins 1a and 1b at the panel fitting recessed parts 2 or the panel fitting projected parts 3 is provided to the feed line of the heat insulating panel intermediate product P1.
