PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shelf board illuminator for an article display shelf in which a direction effect is improved by illuminating an article on a shelf board from the front downside with an illumination lamp attached to the front part of the lower surface of the shelf board, and further, a deflecting means is stably supported even in the case of a steel shelf board. SOLUTION: The illumination lamp 15 is attached to the front part of the lower surface of any shelf board 3 in the article display shelf 1, a laterally long slit 9 is provided on the portion of the shelf board 3 just above the illumination lamp 15, and a laterally long prism 11 for deflecting light emitted upwards from the illumination lamp 15 to the back on the shelf board 5 is fitted from the upside to the slit 9 to engage recessed steps 10 provided on its front and rear parts to the front and rear edges of the slit 9.
