<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorption and desorption type air cleaner capable of collecting and removing chemical substances in air efficiently and stably for a long period of time by a physical action, improving handleability and reducing a running cost or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The absorption and desorption type air cleaner is provided with an absorption unit for absorbing the chemical substances in the air to an absorbent by the physical action and a blower and a damper for supplying indoor or outdoor air to the absorption unit, and the chemical substances in the indoor air absorbed by the absorption unit are desorbed and discharged to the outdoors by the switching operation of the blower and the damper. A plurality of the absorption units are arranged side by side and can respectively and individually perform an absorption operation or a desorption operation.
