<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a palladium catalyst which can be safely handled without being accompanied by the danger of electrostatic ignition by friction, etc., and can selectively perform hydrogenation reaction, etc., without being accompanied by hydrogenolysis reaction as a result of using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The palladium black carried on the gas permeable membrane or hydrogen occlusion substance obtained by bringing a solution containing palladium ions into contact with a portion of the gas permeable membrane or hydrogen occlusion substance and gaseous hydrogen with the other portion can be safely handled without the worry about the electrostatic ignition by the friction, etc. If such palladium black is used as a catalyst, only the carbon - carbon monosubstituted double bond, the carbon - carbon disubstituted double bond and/or the carbon - carbon triple bond can be selectively subjected to the hydrogenation (reduction) reaction without being accompanied by the hydrogenolysis reaction and the hydrogenation (reduction) of the carbon - carbon trisubstituted double bond and/or the carbon - carbon quadrisubstituted double bond. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
