PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage disposal apparatus capable of efficiently washing off garbage having adhered to the inner wall surface of a grinding chamber. SOLUTION: In the constitution of the splash guard of the garbage disposal apparatus 1, the heights in the vertical direction of the base ends of respective lip pieces 9 positioned in the vicinity of the peripheral edge part 7 of the splash guard 5 are set so as to be made lower than those in the vertical direction at the parts on the leading end side of the base ends of the lip pieces 9. In more details, the lip pieces 9 extend in an oblique upward direction while become gradually gentle in the angle of inclination thereof toward the leading ends of the lip pieces 9 in the first section from the base ends of the lip pieces 9 to the leading ends of them and extend along a horizontal direction in the second section up to the leading ends of the lip pieces 9 continued to the first section.
