PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording head, its driving method, and an ink jet recorder in which print quality can be enhanced while preventing print speed from lowering. SOLUTION: In an ink jet recording head comprising a channel forming substrate 10 in which a pressure generating chamber 12 communicating with a nozzle opening is formed, and a piezoelectric element 300 consisting of a lower electrode 60 provided in a region corresponding to the pressure generating chamber 12 through a diaphragm constituting a part of the pressure generating chamber 12, a piezoelectric layer 70 and an upper electrode 80, a plurality of grooves 13 interconnecting one end part of each pressure generating chamber 12 in the longitudinal direction and an nozzle opening 21 and having one side being defined by the diaphragm are arranged in the widthwise direction of the pressure generating chamber 12. An auxiliary piezoelectric element 310 comprising the lower electrode 60, the piezoelectric layer 70 and the upper electrode 80 is provided on the diaphragm in a region corresponding to each interconnecting groove 13 and an ink drop is ejected selectively from a specified nozzle opening 21 by driving the piezoelectric element 300.
