PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an ink jet head in which stripping of an ink repellent film or disturbance in the shape of an ink ejection opening is eliminated after boring a nozzle ejection opening by enhancing intimate contact between a protective member and the surface of a nozzle plate material in a recess when the ink ejection opening is formed following to formation of the protective member on the surface of a nozzle plate material having the recess on the periphery of a part for forming the ink ejection opening and also having the ink repellent film. SOLUTION: The method for producing an ink jet head comprises a step of forming a recess 2 on the periphery of a part for forming an ink ejection opening on the surface of a nozzle plate material 1, a step of forming an ink repellent film 3 on the surface of the nozzle plate material 1, a step of pasting a protective member 4 tightly to the surface of the ink repellent film 3 by hot press, a step of forming ink ejection opening in the nozzle plate material 1 pasted with the protective member 4, and a step of removing the protective member.
