PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a movement control device for a circular saw in a running circular sawing machine which surely operates even in an unfavorable atmosphere wherein chips scatter, and which has a simple structure and does not require a running cost. SOLUTION: A table 4 for holding a material W to be cut is installed. The table 4 is provided with a slit 7 for running the saw which guides the movement of running of the circular saw 22 and with a ruler plate 5 which is a standard for setting the material W. The material W is cut by the circular saw 22 projecting from the slit 7 and moving. A cutting unit 11 equipped with the circular saw 22 is provided with a detecting means A for detecting the presence of the material W, and the running movement of the cutting unit 11 is controlled by an output signal of the detecting means A. The detecting means A is composed of a contact piece 40 coming out onto and withdrawing from the table 4 through the slit 7, an air pressure cylinder 42 urging the contact piece 40 in the direction of projection and a detecting switch 43 detecting the motion of coming-out and withdrawal of the contact piece 40.
