PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reactor for a sewage treatment which can impart a biological denitrification treatment capability to the conventional water treatment facility by an activated sludge system. SOLUTION: This reactor is provided with a reactor body which is provided by forming an aerobic tank on the upper side across a block member and forming an anaerobic tank on the lower side, a raw sewage introducing section which is disposed at the anaerobic tank and a mechanical agitator which is disposed in the raw sewage introducing section. The block member is provided with a diffuser on the aerobic tank side and the aerobic tank and the anaerobic tank are connected through a waterway. The mechanical agitator is operated to deliver the flow mixture composed of the raw sewage injected from the raw sewage introducing section and activated sludge from the anaerobic tank to the aerobic tank through the waterway.
