PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a residue detecting device for a drum feeder, having such construction as to easily detect the residue of headed parts such as screws stored in a rotary drum. SOLUTION: The resin rotary drum 6 including part of the rotary shaft 5 is provided for dropping the screws stored therein on the rotary shaft 5 and a magnetic sensor 8 is arranged in proximity to the lower part of the rotary drum 6. When an output signal from the magnetic sensor 8 is at a predetermined signal level or lower for a preset continuous time, a lack of the residue is alarmed or displayed. In such construction, the residue of the screws stored in the rotary drum 6 being rotated is accurately detected as well as the residue thereof is detected without any trouble even when the screws are stained. Since the residue of the screws is detected between two adjacent vanes 6g, the lacking residue of the screws is found to be extremely less, if detected, and the screws are efficiently supplied to a working position on a working machine such as a screw tightening machine.
