PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the moving performance of an articulated arm of a SCARA robot via a simple structure. SOLUTION: The SCARA robot 1 uses a rotary shaft 16 of a first arm driving motor 14 in common as an input shaft of a reduction gear 15, and supports the rotary shaft 16 with a ball bearing 60 near a pinion gear 17 in mesh with a first arm turning gear 18. The SCARA robot 1 is designed, via the simple structure, to mesh the pinion gear 17 and the first arm turning gear 18 at an ideal gear pitch to thereby improve the durability in movement of a first arm 3 and suppress generation of noise and the like.
