RIB ASSEMBLY FOR MULTISTAGE FOLDING UMBRELLA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rib assembly for a multistage folding umbrella capable of presenting two roles of a function as ribs and a function as closing springs for elastically or automatically closing the umbrella. SOLUTION: The rib assembly 2 for the multistage folding umbrella is formed to make either top ribs 21 or stretchers 22 become the ribs presenting the form of a lotus flower when the umbrella is opened. The ribs 21 for presenting the form of the lotus flower are arched to save elastic energy when the umbrella is opened, and are restored to release the elastic energy for the purpose of automatically closing the rib assembly when the umbrella is closed. The rib assembly plays the two roles of the function for supporting gores 4 on the ribs and the function as the 'closing springs' for automatically closing the umbrella or supporting closing even when the attachments of the closing springs onto the rib assembly are removed.
