PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a masked reel for fishing which facilitates cast timing and is excellent in operability by imparting damping force by nipping a fish line. SOLUTION: A front cover 2 has a through hole 2b with a large diameter on the center of its front face 2a and a rigid fish line guide member 12 is fixed on the through hole. A fish line guide hole 12a is formed at the center of the fish line guide member 12. A ring shaped elastic member 13 comprising a urethane, NBR, or the like, is fixed on the upper side of the front side of the fish line guide member 12 to constitute a damping force control part. A fish line 26 is cast with damping force by pressing the fish line 26 to the elastic member 13 by the finger of a hand when freely drawing out the fish line 26 after casting a terminal tackle.
