摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a sliding member having good lubricating oil adsorptivity by forming a film of a carbide, nitride or the like of an element of any one of groups 4a to 6a, Si or Al on the surface of a base material and forming a particularly high oxygen concentration surface coating containing an element of any one of groups 4a to 7a or the like on the former film. CONSTITUTION:A film having a hardness of 800 or above in terms of an Hv and made of a carbide, a nitride or a boride of an element of group 4a, 5a or 6a, Si or Al, such as TiN or TiC is formed on a base material such as steel material by the ion plating method or the CVD process. This film is coated with an oxide, silicide or the like of Fe by the sputtering process or the like using an atmosphere gas (O2, N2, CH4, etc.) or coated with a compound of an element of group 4a, 5a, 6a, 7a, 8, 1b or 2b such as Cu, Cr, Ni or Mo by the ion plating process or the like. It requires that the oxygen concentration in the surface film should be higher than that in the hard film on the base material. The surface film shows excellent adsorptivity, can allow a difficultly breakable lubricating oil film to form thereon and can give a sliding member showing excellent wear resistance and a low coefficient of friction.
