摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the degradation of image quality and to obtain a long service life by computing temperature of each divided area, and controlling a driving means of a plasma display. SOLUTION: An area dividing part 3 divides inputted image data of one frame in a plurality of areas. The image data divided area by area is inputted to an average value computing part 4, and the average value computing part 4 computes the average value of the image data divided area by area. The computed average value of the image data is inputted to a temperature computing part 5, and the temperature computing part 5 computes the temperature of each divided area after the lapse of unit time from the inputted average value of the image data, the temperature of the divided area stored in a temperature storage part 6, a control coefficient outputted from 3 control part 7, and the ambient temperature of a plasma display panel(PDP) 2 detected by an ambient temperature detector 8. Since the temperature of the PDP can be controlled without using a large number of panel temperature detectors, cost can be reduced, the degradation of display quality can be prevented, and a long service life can be obtained.
