<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attract driver's attention always in a vehicle travel direction on a monitor screen for an onboard camera and to decrease the degree of attention to other imaged images. <P>SOLUTION: When a picked-up image of the vehicle periphery obtained by the onboard camera on a vehicle 10 is displayed on the monitor screen 6a, the image is displayed on the monitor screen 6a while divided into an area A where a part of the picked-up image is sharpened and an area B where the remaining part of the picked-up image is unsharpened.
