<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cell unit of a solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell which incorporates a metallic separator and is of low cost and which has a structure capable of demonstrating high corrosion resistance and durability. <P>SOLUTION: The cell unit of a solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell comprises (a) a polymer electrolyte membrane 2, (b) a pair of electrodes 3, 4 that are respectively fixed on both sides of the polymer electrolyte membrane 2 and are capable of gas diffusion, (c) a pair of porous and conductive graphite current collector 5, 5 that are fixed on the outside of the electrodes 3, 4 in a state of contacting and are capable of gas diffusion, (d) a pair of aluminum separators 7, 7 that introduce separately the fuel gas and the oxygen-contained gas into the electrodes 3, 4, and (e) a porous conductive buffer layer 6, 6 that is provided between the separator 7, 7 and the current collector and has flexibility and ventilating performance. A conductive film of a thickness of 0.01-20 μm is formed on the face of the separator 7, 7 that contacts the buffer layer 6, 6. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
