<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a still image encoding system capable of preventing a blot formed by post-processing. <P>SOLUTION: This still image encoding system is provided with an image data inputting means, an image interpolating means, a source resolution predicting means, a sub-sampling means for an image signal, an image compressing means, an image decoding means, a post-processing means and an image forming means, and substitutes 0 for Cb and Cr at Y<MIN, Y>MAX and |Cb and Cr|<CMIN in converting an error generated by quasi-reversible encoding from YCbCr into RGB.
