PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a line memory, an image reader, and a line memory control method, which can change the arrangement of pixel data in image data without increasing the cost by using a line memory. SOLUTION: A plurality of photoelectric conversion parts 10 arranged in a line convert received light into electric charges. Charge storage parts 11 arranged in pairs with the photoelectric conversion parts 10 store signal electric charges from the photoelectric conversion parts 10. A selection processing part 12 selectively connects one of the charge storage parts 11 to an output line 13 to output the output signal corresponding to the signal electric charges. A scan control part 14 controls the selection processing part 12 so that the charge storage parts 11 may be connected in an arbitrary order. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
