PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic material having a high mechanical characteristic. SOLUTION: This magnetic material 120 has an internal section 122 formed of a green compact containing soft magnetic particles and a surface section 121 which is provided to come into contact with at least part of the internal section 122 and has a higher bending strength than the internal section 122 has. The bending strength of the internal section 122 continuously increases as getting nearer to the surface section 121. The surface section 121 is formed by subjecting the surface of the magnetic material 120 to heat treatment selected from among a group composed of carburizing, vacuum hardening, bright quenching, weak carburizing, and carbonitriding.
