PURPOSE: A system and method for a motion mouse is provided to accurately and rapidly recognize information such as a three-dimensional coordinate, movement, rotation, or scroll by moving a small motion mouse device or pressing a button of the motion mouse device freely in an actual three-dimensional space of a camera front portion when a video input camera is connected to an information device. CONSTITUTION: A user moves or rotates a motion mouse(300) in a three-dimensional space freely. In addition, the user turns on/off each illuminator(311,312,313) by operating switches(321,322,323). A camera photographs the motion mouse(300). A photographed image of the motion mouse(300) is analyzed and converted into a three-dimensional space coordinate, a rotating angle, and state information. The illuminators(311,312,313) extract a distance and a direction from central coordinate values of shapes displayed on a photographed image and extract additional information from an on_off state.
