PURPOSE: An apparatus for setting wireless communication environment in a wireless mobile communication terminal having a wireless LAN(Local Area Network) function and a method therefor are provided to automatically set optimum communication environment when performing a wireless data communication through the wireless mobile communication terminal having the wireless LAN function. CONSTITUTION: A wireless LAN(2) and a mobile communication network(5) amplify signals received through antennas(1,4) at suitable levels. A frequency synthesizer(7) synthesizes certain frequencies from at least one or more uniform frequency sources. The first and second mixers(3,6) mix RF(Radio Frequency) outputs through the wireless LAN(2) and the mobile communication network(5) with the output of the frequency synthesizer(7), for converting the RF outputs into IF(Intermediate Frequency) signals. The first and second BPFs(Band Pass Filters)(8,10) filter output signals of the first and second mixers(3,6). The first and second AGCs(Automatic Gain Controllers)(9,11) adjust output signals through the first and second BPFs(8,10) at a uniform level. A mode selection switch(12) selects a signal of the wireless LAN(2) or the mobile communication network(5), which is through the first and second AGCs(9,11), according to a voice/packet mode selection control signal. A wireless LAN LED(Light Emitting Diode)(LED1) selectively indicates that the wireless LAN(2) is used, by the switching operation of the mode selection switch(12). A mobile communication network LED(LED2) selectively indicates that a mobile communication network(5) is used, by the switching operation of the mode selection switch(12).
