PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operating method capable of improving the operability in a case when an operation object where a rotating shaft is set, is operated by using an operating means such as a mouse in an image forming device such as a three-dimensional CAD device, and to provide the image forming device and a computer program. SOLUTION: In this image forming device 10, the operation to move the operation object B where the rotating shaft C is set, by an operating means 16 is accepted (S102). When the operation is accepted, whether a limitation signal for limiting the direction is inputted from an input means 15 such as a keyboard, or not is determined (S103), and the operation is limited to the moving processing in the axial direction of the rotating shaft C or the rotating processing to the circumferential direction (S105) when the acceptance is determined (S104: YES), and the processing is performed by the operation limited in the operation object B (S106). When the no-acceptance is determined (S104: NO), the moving processing in the axial direction of the operation object B, and the rotating processing in the circumferential direction are performed (S107).
