PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform data rewrite in a flash memory in a chip module. SOLUTION: In this chip module 10, a CPU 1 and the flash memory 2 are provided and a RAM 40 is connected to the CPU 1. The chip module 10 is provided with a mode switching means 30 for switching the CPU 1 to an abnormal mode and an interface 11 for connecting an external device 20. The CPU 1 is provided with a function to receive data for rewriting the flash memory 2 from the external device 20 via the interface 11 in the abnormal mode, to record the data in the RAM 40, to execute the program for rewriting the flash memory 2 contained in the data by reading the data from the RAM 40 and to write the data stored in the RAM 40 in the flash memory 2. As a result, the data rewrite to the flash memory 2 can be performed from the outside of the module 10 via the interface 11 by utilizing the abnormal mode of the CPU 1, and manufacturing efficiency of the chip module 10 is greatly improved.
