The engine includes two turbochargers providing compressed air to a common inlet manifold. The capacity and power of the two units is centrally controlled, providing variable air supply according to demand, whilst operating both turbo units within their operational ranges. The system provides control (50) of an engine (1) which is turbocharged with air by two turbochargers (18,28) having a common inlet manifold (6). The system comprises also an electronic control unit (52), linked to a unit (54) determining the required turbocharged pressure, and a unit (58) for control of this pressure. The electronic control (52) includes a control and actuator (44,46) for each turbocharger (18,28), ensuring that each is operating within its correct operational range. |
