<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a still image encoding system capable of adjusting compressibility corresponding to an input image. <P>SOLUTION: This still image encoding system is provided with an image data inputting means, an image interpolating means, a original resolution predicting means, an image signal subsampling mean, an image compressing means, an image decoding means, a post-processing means, an image forming means, and a reversible and irreversible switching means linked with selection of a plurality of modes for printing quality, and performs reversible conversion when a high image quality mode is selected and irreversible conversion when a highly compressed mode is selected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
