<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminaire with its height capable of being suppressed as much as practicable in compliance with a thinner construction of a discharge lamp. <P>SOLUTION: As light sources for illumination, the discharge lamp 1 and a plurality of visible ray emitting diodes 2 are combined and installed in the luminaire body 3, and lighting is made with the discharge lamp 1 and the diodes 2 being changed over. The diodes 2 are arranged concentrated in a plurality of places on the body 3. Owing to the use of the diodes 2 in lieu of a conventional incandescent lamp, the height of the luminaire can be suppressed as much as practicable in compliance with a thinner construction of the discharge lamp. Changing-over between the diodes 2 and the discharge lamp 1 may be conducted by any means, for example with a mechanical switch, by remote control, etc., and it is possible to light up the light sources individually. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
