PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting element that has excellent light-emitting characteristics. SOLUTION: This is a light-emitting element that comprises a plurality of organic compound layers including a luminous layer between a pair of electrodes, and it contains in at least one layer of the organic compound layers at least one kind of compound that is expressed by the formula (1) and at least one kind of acenaphthylene derivative. In the formula, Ar<SP>11</SP>, Ar<SP>21</SP>, Ar<SP>31</SP>express respectively arylene group, Ar<SP>12</SP>, Ar<SP>22</SP>, Ar<SP>32</SP>express respectively substitutional group or hydrogen atom. At least one of Ar<SP>11</SP>, Ar<SP>21</SP>, Ar<SP>31</SP>, Ar<SP>12</SP>, Ar<SP>22</SP>, Ar<SP>32</SP>has a condensed ring aryl structure or a condensed ring heteroaryl structure.
