PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To start reproduction from a scene desired by a user with a simple operation. SOLUTION: The following processing is repeated: preparing moving picture data to save the moving picture data in a hard disk drive (HDD); performing its preview; suspending reproduction at a stop-designated position to apply standstill to the moving picture; obtaining time information on the position where the standstill is applied to the moving picture when a tag for retrieval tag insertion designation is found; and holding the time information on a main memory. When preview termination and preparation of retrieval function-bearing DVD video disk are designated and the DVD disk is inserted in a DVD drive, the moving picture data saved in the HDD are converted into a DVD video format specified by DVD video standards. The resultant DVD video format is recorded on the DVD disk by means of the DVD drive. An information file for the tag for retrieval corresponding to the moving picture data saved in the HDD is then recorded on a location immediately below a DVD video route directory on the DVD disk.
