<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system that can suppress deterioration of performance of the fuel pole due to carbon deposition, without thermodynamic constraints. <P>SOLUTION: This is a fuel cell system which comprises an electrode performance detection device and an electrode activation and regeneration device, and in which the hydrocarbon system fuel gas is directly supplied to the generating stack at generation, and the electrode performance detection device detects the performance deterioration of the fuel pole, and the electrode activation and regeneration device regenerates the electrode activation of the fuel pole. The oxidizing gas is supplied in a pulse. The system stores the output characteristics or the exhaust gas component before the regeneration process and detects the output characteristics or the exhaust gas component after the regeneration process, and when it does not recover from the deterioration, or the deterioration has progressed, the regeneration process is stopped. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
