PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable high speed and large capacity communication in an optical transmission system of a cable feeding system. SOLUTION: Six semiconductor laser modules 21 in total are arranged in a fiber type optical amplifier 31, with three modules connected in serial and two modules connected in parallel, wherein each module includes a semiconductor laser element which has a multimode interference wave guiding path and can provide an optical output of 300 mW or higher with a drive voltage of 1.5 V or less. The semiconductor laser module 21 is connected to a semiconductor laser module drive circuit 22, an optical fiber 8 is connected to a multiplexer 23 and an optical fiber 24 is extended to the outside from the multiplexer 23. This fiber type optical amplifier 31 is connected with a power feeding wire, a multiplexer and an optical fiber to form an optical repeater. Between a pair of transceivers, a plurality of optical repeaters are arranged an are connected with each other by cables to form an optical transmission system.
