Silicon chip token and method for making same

Token 10' has a thermoplastic body 12' with upper and lower parallel surfaces 13' and 14', and has cavity 15' receiving a silicon chip identification device 16'. Cavity 15' ahs front opening 17' wherein a solid-state deformable plastic plug or lid 19' is inserted. The plug is then inserted and welded to the wall of cavity 15' with a combination of heat and pressure so as to close the cavity and completely incorporate the device 16'. The identification device is capable of communicating without contact by RF waves with a reading station.
