PURPOSE: A device for operating a memory of an optical disk recorder/reproducer is provided to divide the memory for recording purpose and reading purpose, and to continuously store data read from a disk in a reproducing region, then to store data transmitted from a host in a recording region, thereby reducing a continuous recording and reproducing burden. CONSTITUTION: A microcomputer(401) receives read/write commands from a host, outputs the commands to a memory manager(402), and controls a recording/reproducing conversion pointer of a memory(404). The memory manager generates a memory read/write address for storing or reading data read from a disk or data transmitted from the host, and transmits the address to the memory. The memory manager controls a counter(403) according to the read/write commands, and transmits a response in accordance with the commands to the host. The memory stores data inputted through the memory manager in an address designated by the memory manager, or outputs the stored data to the memory manager.
