PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that many condition items were required to be set, and knowledge or decision regarding the material design for some degrees was required in a conventional material selection support system effective for designing a part or a product in consideration of environment, and thereby an easy tool capable of being used for selecting materials by many designers was required. SOLUTION: Information including a name of a reference material, an evaluation item, and an permitted ratio range showing a ratio of mass and/or volume with respect to the reference material permitted as a material used for the part is inputted. With the usage of a database for storing load quantity unit consumption data showing the load quantity per unit quantity of the material, it is evaluated whether the load quantity of a candidate material can be reduced to a predetermined ratio or predetermined reduction quantity with respect to the load quantity of the reference material or not.
