<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system that can achieve a good balance of heating and generation. <P>SOLUTION: In the fuel cell system which uses as a fuel the hydrogen-rich gas generated by a reformer 6, each flow rate of the fuel, air, and water that are supplied to the reforming device is controlled in accordance with the generated energy and heating value demanded, in the standby mode wherein the generated energy demanded from the fuel cell 9 is smaller than the prescribed value. When the demanded generated energy is small and heating value is large, the volume of the air is increased and oxidation reaction is made in the reformer 6, and heating inside the generating system 1 is promoted. At this time, by reducing the passage area inside the reforming catalyst layer 6a, the possibility of having high temperature locally is prevented. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
